Bucs, bank will assist council member's church
The 34th Street Church of God, the East Tampa congregation of City Council member and Rev. Tom Scott, is getting some help this weekend from the Ryan Nece Foundation, Wachovia Bank and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Student Advisory Board. More than 90 volunteers from the organizations will help church members transform a building into a community wellness center for women and children Saturday. The Wachovia Foundation is sponsoring the project. The Nece Foundation is the personal charitable organization of Ryan Nece, a professional football player.
The project is being coordinated by Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay, a local nonprofit group that provides home repair services to low-income families, seniors, military veterans and people with disabilities.
