Political sign wars rachet up with reward offer

Charges and counter charges of damaging and swiping political signs hit every election, but Pasco County Republicans are taking it up a notch. After one Republican's home was vandalized over the weekend, the the county GOP announced today that it's offering a $1,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of anyone caught defacing signs for any Republican candidate.

"These cowardly acts are being committed at night," Pasco Republican Party Chairman Bill Bunting said.

The case that set him off happened in Port Richey. On Sunday morning, a man went to retrieve his newspaper and found "Obama b----" sprayed in black paint on a garage, according to a Pasco Sheriff's Office report. Repair cost: $20.

Bunting said other Republicans had signs damaged over the weekend (though it should be noted that Bay Buzz has heard similar complaints -- sans reward offer -- from Democrats).
