Pinellas turnout update

NOVEMBER 04, 2008

UPDATE: As of 6 p.m., the Pinellas Supervisor now estimates that about 71 percent of registered voters have so far cast ballots. (36 percent today; and between 34 and 35 percent through absentee and early voting).

As of 4 p.m., the Pinellas Supervisor of Elections estimates that about 64 percent of registered voters have cast ballots so far in Tuesday's election. (That includes 34 percent of registered voters who cast ballots either absentee or early).

For persepctive, the highest turnout for a presidential election in Pinellas came in 1992 (Bush-Clinton-Perot) when 85 percent of registered voters cast ballots.

The county canvassing board is again meeting to consider suspect absentee ballots. So far 439 ballots have been rejected.
