Matton sizing up another Pinellas race

Democrat Paul Matton, who lost by 3 percentage points to Neil Brickfield in November, said he's preparing to run for Pinellas County Commission again -- this time if Commissioner Calvin Harris, a Democrat, doesn't run in 2010.

Matton said he'd come with more specifics, a knock against him in 2008. And despite raising little money last year compared to the Republican Brickfield, he promised not to take money from real estate agents, developers and contractors.

"If the Democratic Party would have provided any help, it would have made a big difference," Matton said. "Now they've got new people (in charge), so we'll see what happens."
