USF student signs up to oppose Nurse in City Council race

ST. PETERSBURG -- An unknown candidate has entered the City Council race.

Derrick Frohne will challenge council member Karl Nurse for the District 6 seat. Frohne is the only official candidate in the race.

Nurse, who was appointed to the council last year, has lined up a campaign staff but has yet to file his campaign paperwork.

Frohne did not provide City Hall with a business or residential phone number and could not immediately be reached for comment.

City Clerk Eva Andujar said Frohne said he was a student at the University of South Florida.
