Bennett campaign manager fired over Rays ticket giveaway

ST. PETERSBURG — The mayoral campaign of City Council member Jamie Bennett passed out tickets to the city's Tropicana Field suite in a folder filled with campaign literature and a letter requesting an election contribution.

Bennett campaign manager Peter Schorsch delivered two tickets to a May 3 Tampa Bay Rays game in a white folder labeled "Jamie Bennett for mayor." The folder, left on the doormat of Northeast Park Neighborhood Association President Darren Bishop, included a campaign fundraising letter written by Bennett.

"Help me put together the seed money that will grow a campaign that can win," Bennett wrote in part.
