St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Baker meets with candidates
ST. PETERSBURG- Mayor Rick Baker will sit down with mayoral hopeful Scott Wagman for 30 minutes Monday.
Wagman said Baker extended the invitation at a recent event. Wagman said he wanted to get to know Baker better and is not seeking an endorsement.
Council candidate Steve Kornell, who is running in District 5, will also meet with Baker for 30 minutes Wednesday. "I just thought he is the man that has been running the city for the past 8 years so I wanted to sit down with him," Kornell said.
UPDATE (Monday): Wagman accidentally stood Baker up. Wagman said he was on a conference call that continued past his 11 a.m. meeting with Baker. Wagman said is usually zealous about being on time.
"I feel like such an ass," he said.
Baker did not seem upset, adding that he has talked to Wagman several times in recent months.
