Irions' top aide becomes successor at Pinellas housing authority

Debbie Johnson, chief operating officer for the PInellas County Housing Authority, will become the agency's new executive director after a 5-0 vote today. She'll earn $102,000.

Johnson takes over for Darrell Irions, who quit in April as chief after a fracture with the county board. Irions remains the St. Petersburg Housing Authority's chief, and Johnson was acting chief as the agencies separated the leadership.

Technically a city housing authority employee, she'll now give notice to Irions and join the county.
