Lake Lori: Eyesore or pristine pond?
KENNETH CITY -- Some residents who live around Lake Lori on the edge of this town came to the council workshop last Monday to complain that the pond was ugly and overgrown and needed cleaning.
But it seems that ugly and overgrown are all a matter of perspective. Kenneth City council member Ron Sneed met with a representative of Eco-Pond Rescue, a Seminole company that specializes in cleaning up scummy ponds by using environmentally-friendly methods. They met at the lake and Eco-Pond took a look. Well, it seems the Eco-Pond representative didn't think Lake Lori has much of a problem.
"It's a nice clean lake," Sneed said. "There's a lot of nice wildlife around there."
The Eco-Pond guy did say that the town might want to take out some of the non-native vegetation, but to otherwise leave Lake Lori alone because "the way it's set up, it's got natural filtration," Sneed said.
Sneed's taking the information back to the council during Monday's 7:30 p.m. workshop in Community Hall.
"I'm pushing toward doing what Eco-Pond" suggested by taking out the non-native vegetation but otherwise leaving well enough alone, Sneed said. Of course, he said, "it might not make the residents happy because they want to see all the way across."
