ST. PETERSBURG -- Mayoral hopeful Deveron Gibbons didn't break any records this time.

Gibbons, a corporate executive, reported a $41,030 kitty Friday.

He is still the fundraising frontrunner, beating out second place candidate Scott Wagman, a real estate investor who poured $40,000 into his campaign and raised $36,000 between April and June.

Gibbons collected $250 from former Pinellas County Commissioner Ronnie Duncan, $250 from developer Gregory Sembler and $500 from a local Sheet Metal Workers union.

He spent nearly $54,000, including $19,522 to Image Station on Central Avenue for yard signs.

Mayoral hopeful Ed Helm loaned his campaign $10,100, although he told state and city officials he could not afford a roughly $1600 election fee. He collected $1,305 from contributors and spent $486, mostly on supplies.

Mayoral candidate Paul Congemi, a homeless advocate, loaned his campaign $250 and spent that on fees.

City Council member Leslie Curran loaned her campaign $750, raised $1,100 and spent $551 on fees. She faces educator Pamella Settlegoode, who raised $1,347, and printer Jason Diviki, who has not yet filed his report, in the September primary.

In District 8, consultant Leonard Schmiege loaned himself $450 and spent $150 on fees. He faces City Council member Jeff Danner, who not yet filed his report, in the November general election.

In District 6, student Derrick Frohne raised $295, loaned himself $212 and spent $509, mostly on supplies and fees. He faces City Council member Karl Nurse, who said he raised $15,000 but has not filed, and former city worker Vel Thompson, who raised $1,993.

Former police officer Joe Smith raised $2,626 and spent $792 in his first fundraising period.

Smith faces Steve Kornell, a social worker, and Angela Rouson, a board member on the Pinellas County Housing Authority, in the District 5 race.

Smith collected $100 from Helm and $100 from mayoral hopeful Jamie Bennett.

He spent most of his money on campaign signs and fees.
