Multiple mayoral forums scheduled for July
ST. PETERSBURG -- Want to hear directly from the mayoral candidates?
July presents multiple opportunities to learn about the next mayor of St. Petersburg.
On Sunday, a pro-constitution group called Pinellas 9.12 will host a forum at 3 p.m. at the Sunshine Center. For more information, visit pinellaspatriots.org.
On July 17, the St. Petersburg Democratic Club will host the Democratic candidates for mayor.
The mayoral candidates are also scheduled to speak at a summit sponsored by Saint Petersburg Preservation on July 29, tentatively scheduled for the historic Pennsylvania Hotel, 300 Fourth St. N.
The candidates will hear brief presentations from Saint Petersburg Preservation on top preservation issues and programs starting at 7 p.m. At the end of the program, each candidate will have five minutes to respond and state their position on preservation. Most candidates have confirmed their attendance.
To reserve a seat, call (727) 824-7802 or go to stpetepreservation.org.
Meanwhile, the Suncoast Tiger Bay Club will host a forum for two of the three City Council races scheduled for the September primary. The District 5 and District 6 candidates will discuss the race July 22 at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. For more information, click here. To learn about the candidates, read this story.
UPDATE: The July 17 event was cancelled after candidate Kathleen Ford declined because of a conflicting engagement.
