Wagman stands corrected

The e-mail subject line from Scott Wagman's campaign sounded juicy: "CANDIDATE FOR MAYOR SCOTT WAGMAN STANDS CORRECTED" ...

The subhead in the accompanying press release was even more promising: "Scott Wagman learns of an error in his reporting of Florida counties involved in paint recycling program."

Let's just say the Wagman campaign had Bay Buzz's attention.

Could this error mean the end of the campaign?
Could a campaign shakeup be coming?
Are we talking fines or something even worse?

Then, we scrolled down on our Blackberry. All we can say is, bait. And. Switch.

You can read the rest.

ST. PETERSBURG: Mayoral candidate Scott Wagman issued a statement today concerning his reporting on how many counties in Florida participate in the Scott Paint recycling program he created over thirteen years ago.

"During my campaign for Mayor we have been telling the voters that when I ran Scott Paint we created the state’s first paint recycling program that grew to seven counties throughout Florida. After a recent visit to my old factory I learned that in fact Scott Paint recycling has grown to thirteen counties with four more counties reviewing bids,” reported candidate Scott Wagman.

“In the spirit of openness and transparency, I stand corrected,” stated Wagman.
