ST. PETERSBURG-- While the mayoral race breaks fundraising records, the races for City Council are still mostly a low cost affair.

The incumbents, however, clearly have the upper hand when it comes to raising money.

Below are the totals for the most recent fundraising period. Campaign treasurer's reports were due Friday.

In District 2:

Retired police chief Stephen Corsetti raised $90 and spent $42.15 on a copy of the city's budget. He has raised $1,550 overall.

City Council member Jim Kennedy raised $2,890.24 and spent $3,703.44. He has raised $10,267.56 overall.

In District 4:

City Council member Leslie Curran raised $3,315 and spent $18.78. She has raised $5,165 overall.

Educator Pamella Settlegoode didn't raise any cash. She spent $162.19 on office supplies. She has raised $1,347 overall.

Printer Jason Diviki did not submit a report to City Hall by 5 p.m. Friday. He said he was not aware of the deadline.

In District 5:

Social worker Steve Kornell raised $1,730 and spent $10,514.51. A contribution for a $30 check is missing identifying information, which means he will likely file an amended report. He has raised $27,413.93 since January.

Angela Rouson, a Pinellas County Housing Authority commissioner, raised $4,080 and spent $7,158.65. She gave herself $500. She has raised $14,380 overall.

Retired police officer Joe Smith raised $1,455 and spent $2,753.89. He has raised $3,955 overall.

In District 6:

Student Derrick Frohne didn't raise any cash.

City Council member Karl Nurse raised $2,585 and spent $4,251.28. H has raised $18,301 overall. He picked up $100 from Largo Mayor Pat Gerald, $25 from Steve Kornell and $200 from Craig Sher, Sembler's executive chairman. Most of his cash went toward paying staff.

Vel Thompson, a former city employee, raised $1,210 and spent $1,992.74. She loaned herself $600. She has raised $3,203 overall.

In District 8:

City Council member Jeff Danner did not submit a report by 5 p.m. He could not immediately be reached for comment.

Leonard Schmiege, an engineering consultant, raised $250 and spent nothing. He has raised $700 overall.
