Wagman campaign dismisses St. Petersburg Downtown Partnership poll

ST. PETERSBURG -- The Scott Wagman campaign apparently is not very happy with their fourth-place finish in the St. Petersburg Downtown Partnership poll this week.

 From the campaign's Facebook page:

Your Vote Doesn't Count, Already

Imagine a poll with a sample size of 400 and 65% of respondents are over 55 years of age. This is exactly what the Times reported today showing two politicians of the past leading the St. Petersburg mayoral race. By comparison, our Facebook group contains 779 people and, with respect to ALL supporters, 85% of you are under the age of 55. This means we don’t get counted in polls. How valid are polls without our input?

To make matters worse, our opponents were involved in the design of this poll. Just look at a recent message board post by someone bragging about being hired to take Scott down:

RIGHT NOW, without hesitation, email the St. Petersburg Times and tell them you support Scott Wagman, your vote counts, you want to be included in future polls and you resent that the poll had operatives of opponents involved!

Send email to political reporter Christina Silva at csilva@sptimes.com.

This message was posted about 2 p.m. Since then, I have received  seven e-mails from Wagman supporters. (I'm writing this at 3:20 p.m.)

Now, we here at Bay Buzz have no proof at this time that any of the candidates were involved with the poll, which was paid for by the St. Petersburg Downtown Partnership.

The quote Wagman refers to was made by one of you Bay Buzz commentators.
