Sessions to keynote dinner, help kick off Young election plans?

U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions might not be a household name here, but he does hold high rank (No. 4, GOP officials touted Monday night) among U.S. House Republicans. And the Texan who is chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee will be the keynote speaker at the county party's Feb. 20 Lincoln Day Dinner.

More than 200 tickets for the fundraiser at the Hilton in Carillon have been sold, Chairman J.J. Beyrouti said. Capacity is 550. Tickets are $100 for executive committee members, $125 for others. The money will pad the coffers of the county party, which faced fundraising difficulties last year.

How did Sessions end up as the keynoter? Beyrouti said he met Sessions when Beyrouti won an award last year from national Republican groups.

After lauding Beyrouti last year, Sessions will introduce the night's featured guest, 20-term U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young, R-Indian Shores, who is expected to announce his re-election plans that night.
