Want the Republican convention here in 2012? Let the GOP know, urge tourism officials
The folks selecting the site for the 2012 Republican National Convention will visit Tampa and St. Petersburg March 28 through 30, and tourist officials want the community to show them some love.
"A key to our success is showing the Site Selection Committee the hospitality that the Tampa Bay area is known for. When they arrive, we want to give them a welcome that they’ll never forget," Tampa Bay & Co., president Paul Catoe wrote today in a news release."We want them to know that our community stands prepared to welcome the 2012 Republican National Convention with open arms."
And how can you demonstrate thoose open arms? Why, show up at "fanfare opportunities," include a welcome sign on your marquee and put signs in your window. One option for signage: The "Catch the Wave" logo pictured here. Details on the site visit and "fanfare opportunities" will be released soon.
