As Tarpon addresses sewage line, water line breaks

21

August

After a sewage line rupture that sent raw excrement leaking under homes and across driveways on Spruce Street near Tarpon Springs’ downtown, the city has finished installing a set of pumps to route the sewage away from the faulty pipe.

But now residents living near the sewage plant have another problem.

A water line break has left the four or so homes on Spruce Street without potable drinking water. They’ll have to boil their water until further notice.
The water and sewage line breaks are unrelated, said Tom Funcheon, the city’s public works director.

The area impacted by the sewage line break, according to the city, includes Spruce Street, Athens Street and Cedar Street from Alt 19 to Safford Avenue.
Live Oak Street is reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction.
