At least 160,000 gallons of raw sewage spilled in Dunedin during Hermine
Dunedin staff says the city spilled between 160,000 and 180,000 gallons of raw sewage during Hurricane Hermine, much of it making way to Curlew Creek and Jerry Lake.
The spills were caused by 10 overflowing manholes at locations on Indigo Drive, Cherrywood Lane, Sandalwood Drive, Beachwood Court, Cottonwood Terrace, Redwood Avenue, Michigan Boulevard, Harvard Avenue and Pinehurst Road.
Reports show the overflows were not continuous, but on and off, depending on when it was raining. City staff says the public works department is working to do repairs at the locations to prevent future problems.
