Beckner issues statement about violence task force
Hillsborough County commissioner Kevin Beckner expressed concern last week when fellow Democratic board member Les Miller won support to have the county attorney study whether local government can ban assault weapon and large magazine sales.
Beckner said the public might confuse that with a commission vote immediately before that to hire consultants for up to $150,000 to help the county study ways to curb violence generally. He pushed that proposal.
Based on emails he is receiving, some members of the public are citing the 2nd Amendment is his criticizing his consultant proposal (though clearly some are objecting to the cost of hiring consultants as well.)
So Beckner prepared a statement, which he is sending to emailers. Here it is.
