Brandi Gabbard files for St. Pete City Council
Brandi Gabbard, a Realtor who lives in the Barcley Estates neighborhood, has filed for the District 2 race for St. Petersburg City Council.
Gabbard, 40, said her small-business acumen and experience as a mother of a young child (her son is five) would bring a unique perspective to city council. She is a registered Democrat.
She has been active in the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce and says she would focus on transportation and environmental issues if elected to the city council. She said she also wants to revive the Gateway district.
District 2 covers most of northeastern St. Petersburg up to Feather Sound, the Gateway and Gandy areas.
Another Democrat, Barclay Harless, has also filed for the seat currently held by Jim Kennedy, who has represented the district since 2007. Kennedy is term-limited.
