Build the Pier announces new boosters, fundraising
ST. PETERSBURG -- BuildThePier, the new pro-Lens group, says it has doubled the number of key people campaigning to save the Lens, the proposed replacement to St. Petersburg’s inverted pyramid. Among those involved are community leaders, business owners and three former Pier Advisory Task Force members, including vice chair Ed Montanari, Paul Hsu and Johnny Bardine.
In a news release Tuesday, BuildThePier touted several successes. In less than a month, the group says, its campaign for the Lens raised more than $40,000 in cash, mailed informational pieces, knocked on more than 1,000 doors and aired television spots.
