CD-13 starts to heat up
With 36 days until Election Day, the 13th Congressional District race has kicked into home stretch gear..
Over the weekend, Democrat Charlie Crist saturated local television with an ad designed to reintroduce the former governor to voters. It touches on Crist's high school and college quarterback days, his father's long medical practice in St. Petersburg and even pokes self-effacing fun at Crist's fondness of toting along fans whenever he appears in public.
Jolly's campaign called attention Monday to recent polls showing the incumbent Republican with a slight lead and a recent recalibration of Jolly's chances by the Washington D.C political oddsmakers. Once touted as the GOP's most vulnerable incumbent congressman, Jolly's race has been bumped from "Democrat Favored" to "Leans Democratic" by Roll Call.
After a heated first debate Sept. 19 at the Palladium in St. Petersburg, Crist and Jolly will square off again at a Tiger Bay event Thursday.
