Angela Rouson eyes District 5 St. Petersburg City Council seat
ST. PETERSBURG -- Angela Rouson says she hasn't made up her mind about running for City Council.
But Rouson, who is mulling a run for the District 5 seat occupied by Jamie Bennett, already seems more organized than many of the incumbents expected to enter the race.
Rouson, chair of the Pinellas County Housing Authority, picked up her candidate paperwork from City Hall on Friday. And she has a platform: Rouson said she would rally to bring in new restaurants, attractions and retailers to U.S. 19 and other commercial corridors in District 5.
She also has a potential campaign manager: Rouson said she would hire a former staffer of her husband's, State Rep. Darryl Rouson, D-St. Petersburg.
The staffer, Barry Edwards, already has his hands full running Bennett's campaign for mayor, but he said he would take on both races if Rouson decides to run for the council.
Edwards is well-known in local political circles, as are his legal troubles.
