Bill Young starts his fundraising engine earlier
U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young, who raised eyebrows when he slumbered through early fundraising at the beginning of his last term, is off to a faster start. Young reported raising $58,700 the past three months, part of $74,700 he's raised since defeating Democrat Charlie Justice last year. It's not eye-popping to politics overall, but by comparison, Young received $1,356 in contributions for the same period in 2009.
"Bill Young’s not going anywhere. Those that say he is, most of the time they have their own interest in speculating," said lobbyist David Jolly, a former aide to Young, this week.
Young is unopposed so far, but the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee recently included him among 10 Republicans targeted with ads and phone calls.
