Browning taking sides in Pasco election chief race

There's apparently no post-partisanship when it comes to hometown politics.

Secretary of State Kurt Browning, who's in charge of running fair elections, will be the special guest at a fundraiser for his successor, Pasco County Supervisor of Elections Brian Corley. Both are Republicans, Browning since switching from the Democratic Party in 2002.

Corley faces Democrat Pat Carroll in his first run on the ballot. He was appointed to replace Browning, a Dade City native, in 2007.

The event will be Sept. 29 at the home of Property Appraiser Mike Wells in Dade City. The host committee includes State Rep. Will Weatherford, R-Wesley Chapel.
