Chalela plans campaign kickoff, and will Kemp challenge Cruz again?
Democrat David Chalela, a local lawyer, will officially kick off his campaign for the District 56 state House seat at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Courtney Palms Condominium Clubhouse. Chalela is running for the seat now held by Republican Rachel Burgin.
One of the hosts of Chalela's event is Pat Kemp, who heads the Hillsborough County Democratic Party. Kemp recently experienced her own narrow defeat in a special primary election against Janet Cruz for the District 58 state House seat. When BayBuzz asked Kemp if she plans to challenge Cruz again in August, she offered a cryptic, "No comment."
