ST. PETERSBURG -- It's a name you would never expect to hear during a City Council meeting.

Council member Steve Kornell suggested the city bring indie rock queen Ani DiFranco to the Mahaffey Theater during a discussion this morning on how to make more money from city events.

“It may look like a risk but she has a 10-year history of selling out,” concerts, he said.

The idea drew some confused looks and laughter.

"Herb doesn't know who she is, " deadpanned council member Jim Kennedy, poking fun at council member Herb Polson.
