Court documents detail relationship between Jim Norman and Hillsborough businessman
The latest court documents filed in Kevin Ambler's attempt to get Jim Norman booted from the November ballot provide more details about Norman's relationship with Ralph Hughes, the Hillsborough businessman who gave Norman's wife money to buy a house in Arkansas near her parents. Even though Norman has said the house was his wife's solo investment, money from a joint checking account was used for maintenance and remodeling and to pay taxes and insurance, the documents show. One detail that perhaps is just coincidence: It appears the money went to Norman's wife, Mearline, on Valentine's Day. Read more about it here. Ambler, who lost the Republican primary for the District 12 state Senate seat to Norman, says Norman filed incomplete financial disclosure forms to qualify for the Aug. 24 election. He wants the results of the primary thrown out and to be named the Republican nominee.
