Crist taps Minkoff, Weis to be judges
Gov. Charlie Crist has named Pinellas County Housing Authority chairman and Gulfport attorney Tom Minkoff to be a 6th Circuit Court judge, replacing Robert Morris, who had been elevated to the 2nd District Court of Appeal. Minkoff also was the Pinellas GOP's attorney from 2005 to 2007.
Crist also tapped Richard Weis to be a judge in Hillsborough County Court. A U.S. Air Force veteran and member of the Army Reserve for 18 years, Weis, a lieutenant colonel from Lithia, is now deployed in Afghanistan. He has a been a court magistrate since 2005. Weis fills the vacancy created when Judge Elizabeth Rice went to the 13th Circuit Court.
