Democrats: Heller backs Nobles for Brandes' House seat

4

September

Not sure of the suspense quotient -- or the holiday weekend timing -- but Pinellas County Democrats announced Sunday that former state Rep. Bill Heller has endorsed Bill Nobles in his bid to unseat first-term Rep. Jeff Brandes, a Republican who beat Heller in 2010. The district historically is a battleground.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

REP. HELLER ENDORSES BILL NOBLES FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE
The Bill Nobles Campaign continues to gain momentum in their efforts to unseat incumbent Republican Jeff Brandes and is pleased to report the endorsement of former Representative Harold ‘Bill’ Heller. “(Bill Nobles is) an excellent candidate who will serve the people of District 52 with caring and competence. … He truly merits your strong support – he definitely has mine.” Bill Heller
Rep. Heller served his constituents with honor and distinction. We are proud to have his endorsement and look forward to his continuing support. (more on the jump)

I had the privilege to serve the people of District 52 for four years in the Florida House of Representatives and while I would have preferred to continue, the voters wanted a change.  I feel it is now time to assess that change to determine if indeed Tallahassee was "taken to the woodshed" as promised.

I have decided not to seek a return to Tallahassee and instead am endorsing Bill Nobles, who has already qualified to run by petition.  Bill is, in my judgment, an excellent candidate who will serve the people of District 52 with caring and competence  I ask everyone who so generously supported my candidacy in the past to now get behind Bill Nobles.  He truly merits your strong support -- he definitely has mine.
