Dems push members to support Welch tax plan
The Pinellas County Democratic Party has sent e-mails to members urging them to support County Commissioner Ken Welch's proposal to raise the property tax rate. Under his plan, the increase would provide money to stave off cuts to hospital care for the poor, emergency management and other services.
"Ask the Pinellas County Commission to support Commissioner Welch's budget proposal, and to restore funding for housing, health care and social services," the party e-mail reads.
The commission will discuss Welch's idea at a 9:30 a.m. meeting Tuesday at the courthouse in Clearwater.
