District 10 Democrats stocking up on staffers
Max Linn, Democratic challenger to U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young, announced today the hire of two staffers: Byron Wellman, 25, a West Virginian who worked on Sen. Chris Dodd's unsuccessful presidential campaign, and JaKenna Gilbert, 22, a Duke University graduate who's serving as finance director in her first political campaign.
The two other Democratic candidates for District 10 have already taken on staff.
Bob Hackworth, the mayor of Dunedin, hired Steve Verzwyvelt, a Louisiana State University grad who worked on the St. Petersburg City Council campaign of Democrat Darden Rice, to manage his campaign.
And Samm Simpson, who won 34 percent of the vote when she was the lone Democrat challenging Bill Young in 2006, is working with Mike Fox, a community organizer and the acting chair of the Pinellas County Chapter of Progressive Democrats Of America.
