Edgy signs inspire spoof

5dollargrecos.jpgWell, this didn't take long.

Within days of Dick Greco's eye-catching "Gimme five" hand print signs going up, this parody began making the rounds of Tampa politicos via e-mail. The spoof is the work of Lee Nelson, who lives in eastern Hillsborough County and describes himself as a Democratic activist. (For the record, Tampa city elections are non-partisan.) Nelson tells Bay Buzz he's no fan of Greco and is not actively supporting anyone in the mayor's race but does hope Bob Buckhorn wins.

Greco's hand print sign is becoming something of an inkblot test. Here are some things people have said it reminds them of: The hand over Paul McCartney's head on the cover of Sgt. Pepper. Thing from The Addams Family. Michael Jackson's glove. The mascot for Hamburger Helper.

Gentle readers, your thoughts?
