Fasano "bone-headed" on gulf drilling, Dem says
With state Democrats targeting Sen. Mike Fasano for ouster this fall, Fasano's support for allowing oil drilling off the coast of Florida triggered a blunt statement from the Florida Democratic Party's spokesman today.
"This is a bone-headed move on the part of Fasano," said spokesman Mark Bubriski, noting it could take 10 years to deliver oil to fuel to gas tanks. Bubriski called suggestions of help "disingenuous."
Fasano's response: "That individual is totally out of touch with what my constituents, what the citizens of Florida are dealing with in these tough economic times."
Fasano's district stretches along the coast from north Pinellas to Citrus counties. He said he also wants oil speculators to be forced by federal regulators to invest more of their own money.
UPDATE: Democratic rival Fred Taylor weighs in, ripping Fasano.Download it.
