Firefighters endorse Leslie Waters, Christopher Burke for Seminole council
SEMINOLE -- This city's fire union endorsed incumbent Leslie Waters and challenger Christopher Burke in the upcoming election for City Council.
Jim Lundh, spokesman for Seminole Professional Firefighters Local 2896, said the union's decision was made after a meet and greet with the five candidates.
"All of them had some terrific ideas and all would make great council members. ... We looked for positive approaches for the better of the city," Lundh said.
"Waters has a good standing with local government and a strong political background. Waters said that she is pro-employee and wants to make sure the right thing is done," Lundh said. Burke's "background is pro-employee and (he) has some great ideas to better services and other positive things for the city."
Waters and Burke are running for the two open seats on the council. Also in the race are incumbent Patricia Plantamura, Thomas J. Christy and Sheryl Goff. Burke and Christy are making their second run for the council. Goff is a political newcomer.
The election is March 13. Mailout ballots go out Feb. 7.
