Flush with cash, Brown-Waite gives it away
Ginny Brown-Waite's campaign coffers are overflowing so much that she decided to give away a huge chunk of cash.
The Brooksville Republican gave $95,000 to the National Republican Congressional Campaign Committee at the end of July, according to her campaign finance records filed Aug. 8. Spokesman Charlie Keller said Tuesday that Brown-Waite wanted to support her fellow Republicans in an effort to reclaim the House majority. And it's not like she'll need all her money anyway.
Her campaign raised more than $500,000 -- more than she could ever think of spending against Democrat John Russell, who lost to Brown-Waite in 2006 by 20 points. Even with the contribution, she has $320,000 available. Russell, by contrast, raised about $3,000 through Aug. 8.
