Former fire chief turns up heat on Dick Greco mayoral run
Word is that retired Tampa fire chief Pete Botto is making calls to drum up support for another mayoral run by Dick Greco. Greco has held the post twice, most recently from 1995 to 2003. When asked, here's what Botto had to say on the subject: "I worked with him when he was the youngest Mayor in our country and the last time when he was among the oldest, which I'm sure he would be if we can convince him to run again. (Many believe it won't take much convincing.) Age is a number. I have never seen anyone as progressive at any age nor as active." Greco would be 77 at the time of the March 2011 city elections. Just a note: Botto raised the age issue, not BayBuzz.
So far, four people have filed to run for mayor: City Council chairman Tom Scott; former Council member Bob Buckhorn; former police captain Marion Lewis; and Arthur Richardson.
