Former police chief enters St. Petersburg City Council race
ST. PETERSBURG- A former police chief has entered the City Council race for District 2.
Stephen Corsetti, a neighborhood activist in Riviera Bay, said he will challenge council member Jim Kennedy because he says the incumbent has not been active enough since he was appointed to office in 2007.
Kennedy, a lawyer, has also not been vocal enough on public safety issues, said Corsetti, 65.
"I can do a much better job," he said.
Corsetti said he was an elected police chief in Danbury, N.H., before he retired to St. Petersburg.
