A fundraiser for Janet Long, who is running for the Pinellas County Commission, has been set for 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 25) at the Historic Peninsula Inn & Spa, 2937 Beach Blvd., Gulfport.

Long, a Democrat who served in the state House and on the Seminole City Council, is challenging Republican incumbent Neil Brickfield in the race for the District 1 seat. District 1 is an at-large seat, elected countywide. Couny commissioners serve four-year terms and are paid $90,389 a year.
