A fundraiser that's part politics, part charity

Two Pinellas charities are hosting a political straw poll and fundraiser next Monday in St. Petersburg.

Called “Pennies for Politics,” the event encourages residents to contribute to the Partners for Life Foundation and the Heroes of the St. Pete Police by dropping money into jars labeled for the Republican and Democratic presidential candidates.  The jar (and candidate) with the most pennies (or dollars, quarters, etc.) wins.

      Date/ Time:  Monday, October 8th, 2012 from 9AM - 9PM
      Location:       Feola's Italian Ristorante
                          7110 5th Ave N. St. Petersburg, Fl 33710

Political straw poll Fundraiser.  Who will Tampa Bay vote for?  Two local charities are partnering up with the police, one penny at a time  to raise funds and provide a glimpse forecast of the hottest political race in the country.

Tampa Bay residents will have a chance to back their favorite candidate for President while raising money for two worthy local charities.  Supporters can cast a vote by adding pennies to their candidates' jar.  The jar with the most pennies wins! (We accept nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollars)  Voting will begin at 9:00AM and end at 9:00PM.  WE ENCOURAGE stuffing the ballot boxes. A booth will also be set up for privacy, for those who wish to speak with their pennies alone...

The event will include discounted breakfast, lunch, dinner, and desserts with ALL of the proceeds donated to The Partners for Life Foundation and The Heroes of the St Pete Police Foundation.  There will be games and entertainment for the entire family.

Representatives from both foundations will be on hand all day beginning at 4:30AM.  Representatives from both political parties have been invited to attend.

Partners for Life Foundation was created by Lorraine Yaslowtiz, widow of fallen St Petersburg Police officer, Jeff Yaslowitz.  The mission of her foundation is to aid the families of victims of senseless acts of violence.

The Heroes of the St Pete Police Foundation mission is to assist the community in demonstrating its support and commitment to the St. Petersburg Police officers and their families.  Currently the foundation is scheduled to unveil and dedicate a monument to all 15 fallen officers of the St Petersburg Police Department on October 13th.

Thank for your attendance and support.
