GOP endorsement feud at Tucsons tonight?
Tonight, the REC in Pinellas will be asked to endorse Neil Brickfield over School Board member Jane Gallucci in the District 1 County Commission primary. While the local GOP has endorsed in statewide primaries and non-partisan contests in the past, some are saying it's the first time the party could take sides in a local contest between two viable Republican candidates. REC chair Tony DiMatteo, a Brickfield ally and believer in primary endorsements, said there may be some friction, but he doubts there'll be any lingering bad blood.
"You put it up for a vote," DiMatteo said, "if it passes it passes, if it doesn't it doesn't. I don't think there's going to be a whole bunch of acrimony."
Event is at 7 p.m. at Tucsons in Clearwater off Ulmerton.
