Hackworth launches campaign with $10K
Pinellas County Commission candidate Bob Hackworth, a Democrat, has donated $10,000 to his campaign in his bid to unseat Republican Susan Latvala.
Hackworth will report the loan as part of $12,800 in donations by 31 people, according to a draft report provided to Bay Buzz. The donations include $100 from Pinellas Democratic Party chairman Ramsay McLauchlan.
Lest the contribution total underwhelm observers who know Latvala raise $86,000, Hackworth is quick to note he didn't start actively raising money until April after joining the race in February. The number of contributors is comparable to reports this cycle for County Commissioner Calvin Harris and rival Republican Beverley Billiris in his own race, Hackworth said.
Hackworth has pledged not to accept any contribution more than $100, and nothing from corporations or people with financial business in front of the County Commission.
