With Florida Republicans making his seat a target, state Rep. Bill Heller, D-St. Petersburg, plans a campaign fundraiser and kick-off at 5:30 Aug. 11 at the Great Explorations Children's Museum in St. Petersburg.

Hosts include fellow Democratic House members Janet Long and Rick Kriseman, County Commissioners Ken Welch and Calvin Harris -- and up near top of the list, Republican Clerk of Courts Ken Burke.

While Heller has a long history in the area, the GOP has the chances that Jeff Brandes, a businessman, will knock him off.
