Hernando GOP picks controversial new chairman
BROOKSVILLE -- The Hernando County Republican Executive Committee selected Blaise Ingoglia as its next chairman after the unexpected resignation Ana Trinque last month.
Ingoglia is best-known as the homebuilder-turned-activist who led "Government Gone Wild" seminars and put down a huge chunk of cash to oust incumbent commissioners in the 2008 election. He joined the county party just this year, though.
Reached Friday, he said he couldn't talk because of a death in the family. He asked for emailed questions but has not yet responded. His ascension does not come without the controversy that shadowed him in recent years. Party insiders report that Secretary Susan Wahl resigned and abruptly left the room after he won the nomination. Indeed, her name is no longer on the county party's Web site.
