Hernando Green Party candidate challenged
The Florida Green Party filed a lawsuit against a local Green Party candidate in September, seeking to discover whether she was recruited and paid to run for the Legislature, according to court documents filed in Pasco County.
The story first broke this weekend in the New Times of Broward-Palm Beach. The lawsuit, filed by Jayne King, co-chairwoman of the state Green Party, piggybacks on an investigation by the St. Petersburg Times earlier this year about the mysterious candidates. It specifically targets Sarah Roman, the 22-year-old from Port Richey, who is running in state House District 44 against Republican Rob Schenck and Democrat Jason Melton. Roman does not live in the district.
