Hillsborough commission candidate does the time warp
Bay Buzz caught up with Republican Hillsborough County Commission candidate Linda Pearson after she appeared before the Tampa City Council today for a zoning hearing. Pearson has filed to run for the District 2 seat being vacated by Ken Hagan.
Pearson said her fundraising efforts have been slow this quarter, in part because she has been rehearsing and performing with the group Sing Live. On Sunday, she was among 750 people raising their voices at Royal Albert Hall in London. On the program: Greased Lightning, a Gershwin medley and the Time Warp from Rock Horror Picture Show.
Tonight, she's scheduled to speak to a group of property appraisers about land planning. It's a professional speaking engagement, but like any good candidate, Pearson said it will likely turn into a campaign event. "The program chairman is going to make sure of that," she said.
State Sen. Victor Crist and Becki M. Forsell have also filed to run for Hagan's seat in 2012. But they are likely to appear on the 2010 ballot because Hagan has said he plans to resign to run for the District 5 seat in 2010.
