Hillsborough Republicans return party leadership
After their party's impressive showing in the recent elections, it may come as no surprise that the Hillsborough County Republican Executive Committee reelected its leaders Tuesday night during an annual organizational meeting.
Deborah Cox Roush, also running to lead the state party organization, easily fended off a challenge from relative newcomer Rebecca Ehret in her bid to return as chairwoman of the Hillsborough Republican Party. Vice Chairman Art Wood faced a slightly more vigorous challenge from tea party activist and Sarah Palin look-alike Stacy Feiler, but still won handily.
Secretary Robin Lankford and Treasurer Ken Lawson were reelected without a challenge.
Against a backdrop of sweeping victories nationally, Republicans claimed all but two county political offices for which they campaigned in November even though Democrats still hold a slight edge in registrations.
