The long-time executive director of Hillsborough County's planning commission appears to be on his way out the door. The Hillsborough County City-County Planning Commission had scheduled a discussion on Bob Hunter's future with the agency Monday. When the topic came up, a motion was made to extend his contract by a year from its current ending date in March 2012, said Chairman Frank Chillura. The motion failed on a tie 5-5 vote, with all commissioners present, meaning someone on the board would have to change his or her mind for Hunter to stay. Hunter initially retired from the planning commission after 21 years in the position at the end of 2009. He returned a little more than a month later when the board asked him back in what at least one commissioner said appeared to be an orchestrated move, which Hunter denied. By returning, he was able to collect his executive director's salary and begin collecting his state pension.
