Jim Kennedy gets the good ol' boy seal of approval in District 2 race

ST. PETERSBURG -- The same former elected officials supporting Bill Foster for mayor are now supporting City Council member Jim Kennedy.

Here's the press release:

St. Petersburg, Florida—The Kennedy Campaign is pleased to announce the endorsement of four former city council members, Larry Williams, Connie Cone, Bea Griswold, and Bob Kursteen.  All of these individuals have offered their support for James ‘Jim’ R. Kennedy Jr. and his election bid for City Council District 2.

Larry Williams was complimentary in his statement of support regarding Jim Kennedy.

“I have known Jim Kennedy for twenty or more years.  Jim and I have served on committees and boards of several organizations within the city including the Chamber Baseball Committee and CASA.  It is my opinion that Jim has represented the City well during his time on the City Council.  Therefore, as a 45 year residence of St. Petersburg, as former Chairman of the City Council, and as a two term member of City Council, I believe Jim Kennedy to be the right person to represent District 2 and the City.”

Jim Kennedy was humbled by the praise of such a noteworthy citizen of St. Petersburg.  “I appreciate the support that Larry Williams has shown me today, as well as over the years.  I am very glad that these four individuals are willing to continue to place their trust and faith in me, as I strive to continue the work necessary to lead the city in a positive direction.”
