Jimmy Johnson to return as Seminole mayor

Johnson mug SEMINOLE - Jimmy Johnson automatically got his second term as mayor on Monday when no one signed up to run against him.

"That's wonderful," Johnson said. "I certainly do appreciate the people of Seminole, the confidence they have in me. ... It's been a great ride so far and it's going to get better."

Johnson, 64, also serves as executive director of the Seminole Chamber of Commerce.

Although Johnson was a shoo-in for the mayor's seat, the story for the two open council seats is completely different. Nine candidates have qualified to run for the seats held by Thomas Barnhorn and Dan Hester. Hester has announced he is not seeking re-election.

Running in the March 9 election are Barnhorn, Christopher Burke, Thomas J. Christy, Arden Ford, Allen L. Godfrey, Randall Hendricks, James Joseph Quinn, Bill Smith and Jardelina S. Souto.
